ClearCase Licensing
How can I request a ClearCase license?
You will need to make a licensing request to Rational Customer Service to get a license for Rational ClearCase. To request a license you will need the following information for the server that will hold the licenses.
- The host id for the computer used as the license server.
- Product name and number of users
- P.O or S.O. number
The following table will help you retrieve the host id for different license servers.

How can I move my permanent licenses for ClearCase, ClearCase Attache, ClearCase MultiSite or ClearGuide to a new host?
You will need to make a licensing request to Rational Customer Service via the Web or you can contact licensing support directly to move your licenses from one host to another.
You will need the following information:
- The host id for the current server
- The host id for the new server
- Product and number of users you like to move
- Current license strings
The current license strings can be retrieved using the ClearCase command ''clearlicense''.
The following table will help you retrieve the host id for different license servers.
